Animal Welfare Programs

Six focus areas shape our work for street and community animals. Each one describes a real need — and the direction we are working in.

How to read this page: Wisdom Animal Welfare Foundation presents its work with complete honesty. Activities are described as operational programs only once verified by the foundation; until then, they are labelled as focus areas. As programmes launch and are confirmed, this page will be updated with verified details, so supporters always know exactly what is happening on the ground.

Rescue & Emergency Assistance

When an animal is injured, sick or in immediate danger, the first hours matter most. This focus area is about noticing, responding and connecting animals to help quickly — calmly, humanely and without causing further fear.

  • Identifying animals that need urgent attention
  • Safe, gentle handling and transport guidance
  • Connecting with veterinary help and experienced rescuers
  • Follow-up until the animal is out of danger

Food & Clean Drinking Water

Hunger and dehydration are daily realities for street animals, especially in summer. Regular, hygienic feeding and water points turn uncertainty into reassurance — and give animals one less thing to fight for each day.

  • Consistent feeding at fixed, clean, low-traffic spots
  • Fresh water bowls placed and refilled regularly
  • Extra care during heatwaves, monsoon and winter
  • Feeding practices that respect local neighbourhoods

Veterinary Treatment & Healthcare

From a wound that has gone untreated to preventable disease, timely veterinary care transforms an animal's life. We aim to bridge animals in need with qualified veterinary professionals and preventive healthcare.

  • Supporting treatment for injured and unwell animals
  • Encouraging vaccination, including rabies awareness
  • Promoting sterilisation for humane population management
  • Working through licensed veterinary providers

Rehabilitation & Shelter Support

Recovery does not end at treatment. Animals healing from injury or illness need safe space, warmth, nutrition and patience before they can return to normal life — or find a new one.

  • Rest and recovery support for animals after treatment
  • Nutritious food and comfortable, safe bedding
  • Supporting humane sheltering where needed
  • Gradual, low-stress return to familiar territory where appropriate

Adoption & Responsible Pet Ownership

Adoption changes two lives at once — the animal's and the family's. We encourage thoughtful adoption and lifelong responsibility: vaccination, sterilisation, daily care and a home the animal can count on for life.

  • Encouraging adoption over impulse purchase
  • Guidance on the real responsibilities of pet care
  • Importance of vaccination, ID and sterilisation
  • Absolute commitment: pets are never abandoned

Animal Welfare Awareness

Every rescued animal began with a person who noticed and cared. Building a culture of compassion — in schools, families and neighbourhoods — multiplies our impact far beyond what any single organisation can do.

  • Everyday kindness: what anyone can do, anywhere
  • Humane education for children and young people
  • Seasonal awareness — heat, cold and monsoon care
  • Respectful coexistence with community animals

Currently all six areas are presented as focus areas. They will be re-labelled as verified operational programs as the foundation confirms them.

Your role

How your support moves these focus areas forward

Focus areas become programmes when caring people stand behind them. Every contribution and every shared article helps turn intention into action.

Give what you can

Donations via UPI help fund food, water, care and awareness efforts. There is no small contribution — a single bowl of water on a hot day is not small to a thirsty animal.

Share the mission

Talk about animal welfare with your family, friends and neighbours. Share our articles. Awareness multiplied is kindness multiplied.

Practise everyday kindness

Place water outside in summer, drive carefully near animals, never buy pets on impulse and report cruelty responsibly. Small habits protect animals daily.

Stand with the animals who cannot stand up for themselves

Your donation helps carry these focus areas from intention to action — food, water, care and kindness for street and community animals.
